On this week's episode, Lindsay is joined by the Cinema Drunkie himself Robb Antequera host of Action Drunkies, the up coming show The Wrath of Stath and co-host of House that Screams Podcast.  And today we are somersaulting our way through a Gold Medalist Mitch Gaylord Double Feature; with Albert Magnoli's American Anthem (1986) & Sergio Martino's American Rickshaw (1989).  This was such a fun Double Feature to record about, both completely different movies, trying to exploit the same element in wild and insane ways.

The tale of Two Families: Hereditary (2018), Written and Directed by Ari Aster Insidious Chapter 2, Written by Leigh Wannell, Director James Wan In  recent years the term ‘Elevated’ or ‘Social’ Horror has term flung around for a certain kind of Horror Movie.  It’s a difficult term to define.  Is it a more emotionally complex slow burn horror that has been made with the likes of It Follows, The VVitch, and the criminally under seen Doctor Sleep.  Or is it the Horror that people or critics that think is good.  The 2010s is the decade when Get Out and Shape of Water won Oscars, and very deserved ones.  It could be argued that ‘Elevated Horror’ doesn’t really exists, that it’s just it marketing tool. Wes Craven Kick Part 3 - I am a Child of the 1990s

I was born in the ealry 1980s but I am a child of the 1990s.        It is the decade I grew up, the decade where my tastes really formed.  I like snappy dialogue, flannel shirts, boot leg jeans and short skirts.  I had a Rachel as a teenager.   It was in the 1990s where I became to really love going to the movies.  Almost every week I went to the cinema.  It's not surprising that it's this decade of Wes Craven's work that I really conncet with.  I didn't know it the time, but Craven was one of those directors that shaped by tastes as much as Tim Burton and Steven Spielberg.  And it's in this decade where Craven really hits his stride and makes some of his great movies that changed where horror went, yet again. THE BLOCKBUSTER, THE INDIE AND THE WONDERFUL WOMEN

WONDER WOMAN (2017) - DIRECTED BY PATTY JENKINS  PROFESSOR MARSTON AND THE WONDER WOMEN (2017) - DIRECTED BY ANGELA ROBINSON Two movies that are about the same subject, but covering different aspects and styles.        Patty Jenkins' Blockbuster Wonder Woman from 2017 made a huge splash culturally and fiscally.  While Angela Robinson's The Professor and The Wonder Women is a much smaller intimate movie that follows the relationship between Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston and his inspirations that lead to to the Goddess's creation. One is a Blockbuster, a mammoth investment that was meant to be part of a huge D.C shared universe.  Professor Marston and the Wonder Women , while still distributed by Sony  (a smaller section of Sony, the section that likes awards) is a smaller and intimate movie, a single focus concerned with the inner emotions and desires of the characters.  One movie designed  to get the largest audience they can for that all important opening
